STAND UP CAUSE
What is Stand Up?
Rooted in Jewish obligation and BBYO tradition, Stand UP is a new understanding of the old practice of Tikkun Olam – repairing the world around us. As responsible young Jewish adults, we will gain invaluable experiences in the areas of community service, philanthropy, and advocacy, cultivating important skills to become effective change makers and contributing members of the greater Jewish community. Alephs and B’nai B’rith Girls like us have united to combat issues and causes such as hunger, cancer, homelessness, genocide, human rights, bullying and harassment, while rallying to support global Jewry, charitable foundations, public services and community agencies amidst a multitude of other communal priorities. Stand UP is our opportunity to voice our passions and make a real difference in the community and the world around ya. Chapters just like ours from around the globe are constantly launching new campaigns, creating new resources, and finding new opportunities to be a part of.
VOTE FOR A CAUSE!!
We came up with some ideas of what our Stand Up organization should be but we want to make sure that we chose one that the whole chapter can connect to and feel good about supporting. Everybody PLEASE take a few minutes to read about and choose one that sounds meaningful to you. Voting will close this Thursday, September 17!! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Ashley Waller!

International sisters
Hello lovely ladies!!
Well I have an announcement to make that I am super excited about it. I have paired Jay Levine BBG #1508 with a sister chapter in the international order!! The name and location of the chapter will remain a secret until the 6 Fold Sleepover on October 4. However with an international sister chapter comes international sisters. I will be working with my co-mazkirah to find each of you a sister within the chapter. If you are interested in having a sister please let Audrey Nussbaum know at (502) 435-2448. In order to have an international sister you should...
1) Be willing to communicate with them. Do not ask to have one and then fall of the face of the Earth because it would not be fair to your international sister.
2) Be open to making a new friend. Tell them about yourself your chapter. I am very good friends with the mazkirah so I know these aren't creepy girls who are going to come visit you in the middle of the night.
3) Be excited!! You are being given an awesome opportunity so take advantage of it!! It does not matter if you are on board, a senior, or a freshman!!!

Jay Levine BBG goes international
This Summer Jay Levine BBG #1508 had six girls attending a BBYO Summer Program. Four girls headed to CLTC, a chapter leadership training conference, held at two different locations throughout the Summer. One locations in Wisconsin and the other in West Virginia. These 12 days at CLTC were life changing for the toucans that attended. The girls made friends from around the globe and made international connections that will last a life time. Not only have friends been made, but invaluable leadership skills were learned as well. They have returned to Louisville ready to lead their chapter into higher success. The other two girls headed on a once and a lifetime opportunity to the holy land of Israel in a program called ILSI. ILSI is an elite leadership program designed for BBYO members and welcoming Jewish teens from around the world. This enrichment experience combines educational touring, leadership learning, interactive and engaging seminars and meaningful community service.
BBYO has helped make the Summer of 2013 the best Summer of these six girls lives. If you did not attend a Summer Program this year have no regrets because the opportunities are endless for Summer 2014. Where do YOU want to head during Summer 2014?

MIT Elections and AIT/MIT Prep
AIT/MIT is right around the corner and Jay Levine has numerous MITs attending and they are ready to have the time of their life! On Sunday at 3 PM the event MIT Elections and AIT/MIT Prep will begin at the JCC. Older members will be giving advise to the girls on what to bring to the convention and a loose schedule of what they will be doing. MIT elections will also be taking place. All MITs should have received information. MIT elections are when the 8th graders are given a chance to begin their leadership in BBYO. Each girl has the chance to run for a position on MIT Board. The MIT Board will be in charge of running a program during the term. The girls running for board must prepare a speech and a platform. They should also dress up a bit (Shabbat attire). For details and questions please contact a board member (preferably the one you want to co with). All contact information can be found on the website! I highly encourage all the MITs to run. You learn a lot about how elections go and it gives you a chance to take on some responsibility without overwhelming yourself. You also get to put yourself out there, which I know can be scary but you learn about yourself win or lose. So even if you are just considering please talk to an older board member! older members should defiantly come to and show support to the MITs because we have all been one before. Come to vote, support, and be with your BBG sisters. You can also give them advice on AIT/MIT. It is going to be awesome and I am super excited to see what the MITs have to say!!
