We hope that everyone who went to the Hamantaschen/Big-Little reveal had a blast! The hamantaschens were delicious, the people were poppin' and Toucan Oliver was shaping up to be a great new mascot for JL. There were so many MITs who showed up and it was so fun to meet everyone. Can't wait for the second half of this term with you lovely ladies! Also, a huge shoutout to the Bessen family for hosting!

AZAA/BBGG Basketball and Sisterhood Weekend
We are sure that everyone who went to Chapter XX and Sisterhood/BBGG weekend in Cincinnati had a great time and learned a lot! It was our first regional event of the term and also the first event for some of our eighth graders who all had a blast. Additionally, our brother chapter Drew Corson won the AZA basketball tournament, we made the finals in dodgeball, and we learned some crazy Israeli self-defense moves when we participated in Krav Maga!

KIO Spirit Convention 2k14: The Final Countdown
The clock ran out and Jay Levine brought 22 girls to KIO's 2k14 Spirit Convention: The Final Countdown!!!! After the production of a terrific video, the designing and ordering of spirit wear, and all the hard work from our amazing chapter members leading up to and throughout the weekend.... we were victorious!!!!!!!! We competed against BBG chapters throughout the region during the weekend in games and competitions and left Cambell Gard with the stick in our hands; but more importantly, we all had an incredible time at the biggest KIO convention with 208 members in attendance!!!! Congrats ladies:))
Co-ed Kickoff!
T'was a night of a long and hard-fought battle....paint battle that is!! Jay Levine BBG joined our brothers in Drew Corson AZA for an evening of messy games like paint twister, jello pools, and shaving cream fights at Bradley Schwartz's home. (All of which ended up in one big, messy, and incredibly fun battle:) When everyone was cold and covered in color we headed over to Audrey's house for a chance to catch up, eat food, and enjoy s'mores, songs, and more around a bonfire and a pool. It was a terrific start to what we know will be a terrific term!!
Fall term Elections
Louisville BBYO is back and ready for action! Both DCAZA and JLBBG had their first event since leaving for summer on August 11 at the JCC -- the election of the new chapter boards!!!! We are so excited to see what this term has in store and are so proud of all girls that ran in elections. For info on the new board see "Meet the Chapter Board"
chapter convention 2014
Once upon a time... Jay Levine pulled off yet another superb event!!!! All 40+ girls in attendance enjoyed a MIT program with spirit wear, steering programs involving Israel activities (dead sea masks, games, etc.) and BBG collages, lots of jumping at SKyzone, dinner and a scavenger hunt at the Summit, and meaningful havdallah, inductions, separates, and Lives. We will miss all our seniors soooo much but we are also so happy to have inducted the newest class of JLBBG. Be on the lookout for pics in the KIOhTheMemories yearbook pages!!
BBGCode Six fold sleep over
March 14 was a fantastic night for Jay Levine! Your favorite toucans spent the night with each other and bonded through meaningful programming based around the Six Folds of BBG (creativity, recreation, Jewish heritage, community service, social action, and sisterhood). The night's theme was BBGCode like the show GirlCode on MTV. Throughout the night programs were lead by the board and steering committees that involved donating gifts and writing letters to children at Kosairs, trying new and crazy things like blind make overs, meaningful Jewish heritage program, and our traditional good and welfare. MITs in attendance were also assigned a Big Sister to become best friends with over the next few years. For more pictures see the slide show on the home page:)
International COnvention (IC)
Jay Levine sent 8 glorious girls to Dallas, Texas for this fabulous opportunity to meet and reunite with International friends! These toucans as well as about 2,500 other BBG's, Alephs, and staff from 20 COUNTRIES enjoyed 5 days of leadership training, community service, and oustanding programming. This convention featured performers Aloe Blacc, 3BLAU, B.O.B., and American Authors, the election of the 70th international BBG board and 90th Grand AZA Board, as well as a collection of very inspiring leaders and BBYO alumni. Didn't get a chance to go this year? Think about going to IC 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia :)
First chapter meeting of term and
big mike's birthday!!!
On January 28, Jay Levine had its first chapter meeting of the term. Twelve toucans came in superhero gear to discuss old and new business. This meeting also happened to fall on our beloved and SUPER City Director, Mike Steklof's, 26th birthday which we celebrated with cake:) Members in attendance also voted on a stand up cause (focus for charity work during the term) but there was a tie!! PLEASE GO TO THE NEWS TAB TO VOTE FOR THE SPRING 2014 STAND UP CAUSE FOR JAY LEVINE BBG!!

Senior dinner/ winterwonderland
The night began with a fun and filling dinner at Olive Garden for the seniors and then they headed to Jessie's house to meet up with the rest of the chapter for the WinterWonderland Program. The night began by girls pairing up and decorating ginger bread homes and then by unwrapping a 30 layered present. Finally there was an Ugly Sweater Competition won by Rachel and Deborah for their ugly matching vests. The night ended with pictures and socializing, it was a fun night for all!
Volunteer's of america
Jay Levine helped out at Volunteer's of America on Sunday! The chapter set up a Halloween Carnival. The kids got their faces painted, played ball, bingo, ate candy, colored Halloween signs and tried on costumes which then they kept! It was a lot of fun for everyone!
6 fold sleepover-Sweet Escape
The night was a total success with each girl spending a night of sweet escape! Read the following below to see what was done for each fold.
Sisterhood-a compliment web, string was thrown around the room forming a web. When the string was a thrown a girl would receive a compliment.
Jewish Heritage-Jay levine showed a video called The Tribe which discussed the stereo-types of Jewish religion. As well, as the religion of Barbie Doll.
Recreation- This program was planned by a steering committee! The chapter was divided into teams to compete in Sweet Escape themed games.
Community Service-This fold was also created by a steering committee. The chapter made tote bags filled with food and other items in order to be donated.
Social Action-Each girl was given a plate of junk food and told not to eat it. The chapter sat quietly for 5 minutes and some girls ate their food anyway and others followed. This represented giving into temptation to follow the status-quo.
Creativity-The chapter made stress balls in order to have a sweet escape awa from the sleepover.

When the sun began to set the chapter participated in a special Havdallah which lead into a song session. Then the girls created a chain with a goal for the new year. The night ended with dessert and free time to socialize.

Jay Levine collected items to be donated to under privileged children and sold Qdoba coupons for fundraising. The event was relaxed and filled with tons of food and swimming! Chapter convention 2013
Jay Levine is proud to say they finally held their first ever Chapter Convention after months of planning. The night began with states from our Spring Term Board and then we headed into an "Extreme" Scavenger Hunt run by the MIT Board. The our amazing 15 MITs were inducted as official members into JLBBG #1508. Next girls were split into teams in order to audition for the Spring Musicale. Then came dinner at Puccini's and frozen yogurt at Menchie's! We arrived back to our hotel full and ready for a fabulous Havdallah service and finally the teams competed in callback auditions. Then our amazing seniors gave their lives into the late hours of night before the girls headed off to bed for a successful day at chapter convention. After waking up the next morning, breakfast was eaten and a chapter meeting was held to reflect on the our first Chapter Convention ever. Finally a convention is not complete without spirit wear and cute frank tanks were handed out to all the girls! See more photos under Jay Levine's Facebook page.
Little Auction program
Jay Levine held its first ever successful MIT auction! All MITs were sold of to their new and proud big sisters. :)
Chapter meeting april 24, 2013
We began the meeting with of course, the menorah pledge and the singing of the Hatikva. We then discussed AIT/MIT with all our fabulous MITs. They told us stories about how much they had at their first KIO convention. The girls were all reminded about the Mother's Day Sale which ends April 29, so hurry up and buy something for you mom! Contact Katie Segal for questions. The girls were reminded of the website's new feature, the prayer box which allows girls to enter in prayers for ourselves and those around us. Next we talked the upcoming Indy Beau/Sweetheart dance, please contact Mike Steklof more transportation information. And finally happy stand up week to everyone, Hillary Reskin created a page for Jay Levine's Stand Up Cause, please see the link below to see the page! This meeting had a huge group of girls there and I was so proud and happy to see all of them!

APRil 14 MIT Elections and AIT/MIT Prep
MITs had the opportunity to run for a position to be on MIT Board. Each girl did a great job standing in front of the chapter and giving a speech. I am so proud of all of them. Congrats to...N’siah-Mariana Goldberg
S’ganit-Izzy Geller
Morah-Ava Greenberg
Shlicha-Bailey Czerkiewicz
Gizborit-Abigail Goldberg
Mazkirah-Laina Meyerowitz
Sunshine girls-Bailey, Skyler, Lauren, Ally
We also went over details for AIT/MIT. If you are going to the convention and were not able to attend the meeting, feel free to ask any board member any questions you have. Here are somethings to remember.
-All your clothes/luggage will be going through a heater to rid of the possibility of bed bugs, so make sure to pack things that can melt (shoes, toiletries, makeup, etc.) in an extra bag, like a large pure or backpack.
-Be sure to bring an outfit for Shabbat, do not wear heels. It is very casual, like a sundress.
-Be prepared for the rain. It is highly recommended to bring rain boots. Trust me they will be a lifesaver.
-Bring some money for shuk, to buy spirit wear and some money for lunch on the way back.

6 fold sleepover: Silver lining
The 6 Fold Sleepover was a great success, we had over 30 girls show up! The night was an experience of all 6 Folds led by a great steering committee and chapter board. The girls' first arrived with a mixer, playing a game to break the ice where we broke actual ice! The night continued with a delicious potluck dinner and catching up. We got more serious with shabbat service, then headed straight into the folds. We had some really great and deep discussions led by various steering committees. The BBGs also did different activities such as designing candles to represent as a reminder of our silver linings. We also helped those in hospitals by making them colorful baskets of artificial flowers. We hope these bright colors will be a silver lining for those stuck in a hospital room all day. The sleepover was an amazing success and everybody left exhausted! The girls in Jay Levine BBG are each others silver linings in life.
Shabbat dinner and selection sunday!
These events were both complete fun with our AZA chapters Drew Corsan! Congrats to Maggie Rosen who is the Sweetheart and
FEBRUARY 21 Pajama chapter meeting
Hi Girls! If you were not at the meeting today we really missed you and please read this because there is a lot of important things you need to know! The meeting began with of course the Menorah Pledge and the Hativkah then we headed into some very important business. We began by discussing dates. The March calendar was just posted so please look for that. We then talked about Bigs and Littles. Bigs and Littles have been a tradition in Jay Levine, but there have been some problems to them. We discussed the pros and cons and come up with a list.
Pros to Having Bigs and Littles
Brings us together and involves MITs
Feeds interest
Makes things more personal
Cons to Having Bigs and Littles
Makes people feel left out if their big/little is not in attendance
Some people get "screwed over"
We had a vote and there will be Bigs and Littles. A list of suggestions were come up with to make things run more smoothly. People will only receive a little if they are willing to have the responsibility. Details to come later. If you have more suggestions PLEASE put them in the Idea Box.
Suggestions for Bigs and Littles
1. Each little will receive a mentor during recruitment season and when a MIT becomes a member they will receive a big sister.
2. Make a list of people who want a little and will be dedicated (pledge it).
3. Have big and little bonding activity days.
4. Have the big take their little out to dinner or to do something outside of BBYO.
Next we talked about Stand Up Cause. We need to decide on one that we are passionate about and is broad enough to let us do different activities with it, but not too broad so that it is not personal. Here are suggestions girls were interested, some of these suggestions can be put together to make our Stand Up Cause. Again if you have more please put them in the idea box tab.
Finally was the announcement of Jay Levine's first every CHAPTER CONVENTION. Inductions for the MITs will be held here and the lives for the seniors. The theme is Out with the Old, In With The New (get the high school musical reference) because were inducting our MITs and saying goodbye to our seniors. This will be held at a hotel or a cabin, details are being sorted out! The date is May 25-26 (a Saturday to a Sunday) and it will likely begin around Saturday afternoon because we will have a lot to do! Get excited!!!!!
The evening ended with a survey over what our chapter can do to improve! Hope to see you next time!!

FEBRUARY 14 valentine's dinner
Valentine's Dinner was a lot of fun and we defiantly missed you! The dinner was totally relaxed and completely free of business. We ate a ton of heart-shaped pizza, salad, and breadsticks. If you were on a date I hope you had a great time and to see you at the business meeting this Thursday 7 PM at the JCC.
JANUARY 31 Tu b'shvat dinner
Missed spending time with your BBG girls? The evening began by ordering healthy foods and eating our fruits. We sang our prayers before eating and all the girls caught up with one another. Then Hillary Reskin lead a fabulous talk telling us fun facts about Tu B'Shvat and giving us each a prayer booklet to look through. We also earned enough money to have our own tree in Israel!!! The tree will be donated in the name of the Sadle brothers. This is really cool that Jay Levine has another tree in Israel!! Israel is in dire need of trees after many of the were burnt down in a fire. By donating money for trees we are helping the people and land there. Way to go Jay Levine!!! The evening ended by singing Hativkah Hope you will be able to come to the next event!!!
